Welcome to Pretty Sailing!

 

We're thrilled that you've chosen to join us for an unforgettable sailing experience in the beautiful waters of Gibraltar.

Below you'll find all the information you need to prepare for your course with us.

Meeting Point

  • Location
    Please meet us in Ocean Village in Gibraltar. Our office is located on the ocean village promenade right next door to the NAFFI cafe. Our boats, Pretty Woman and Pretty Ruby (Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 37s) are in Marina Bay right next door.

  • Arrival Time
    For those arriving the day before the course, please visit our office upon your arrival in Gibraltar. If you are arriving after 1700 hrs, kindly inform us in writing. We look forward to welcoming you!

  • Please arrive by 8:45 AM on the first day of the course for a prompt start.

  • Directions

  • Parking
    Paid parking is not available at the marina. If arriving by car it is recommended to keep the car in paid parking over in Spain. For public transport users, local buses stop nearby, and taxis are readily available.

What to Bring

  • Clothing
    Lightweight, breathable layers for warm weather;
    Medium soft bag (no hard suit cases);
    Non-marking, closed-toe shoes (suitable for wet decks)
    Sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen for sun protection.

  • Documents
    Passport or ID;
    Any sailing certifications (if applicable);
    Health Declaration Form completed (submitted in advance if possible);
    Passport size photo (for the certificates).

  • Food & Drink
    Breakfast and Lunch ingredients will be provided on board as well as snacks, however dinner will be ashore on your own expense.
    If you have any dietary requirements, please fill out the health declaration form.

  • Optional
    Seasickness tablets, if you are prone to seasickness.

Accommodation and Transport

  • Additional accomodation on board
    If accommodation on board is needed on days before or after the course dates, please let us know in writing, otherwise Gibraltar has some lovely places to stay.

  • Transport
    Gibraltar is well-connected with buses and taxis. If you’re travelling from Spain, the nearest airport is Malaga, and the border crossing at La Linea is straightforward.

  • Visas
    Please double check visa requirements prior to travel for entry to Gibraltar.

Health and Safety

Your safety is our priority. Please ensure you have completed the Health Declaration Form before the start of the course​​​

  • Safety Equipment

Life jackets and all required safety gear will be provided.

 

Your course may include a night sailing exercise. If you require any visual aids, please bring them with you, along with any spares you may need.

 

If you have any medical conditions or concerns that could affect your ability to participate, please let us know in advance.

Weather

Gibraltar enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, but the weather on the water can change quickly. Courses will generally go ahead unless conditions are deemed unsafe by Pretty Sailing. Be prepared for both sunny days and occasional showers by bringing appropriate clothing. We provide top of the range wet weather gear to all on board for the duration of the course.

Course Materials

No additional materials are required for the course, but we recommend bringing a notebook and pen to jot down notes or any questions you may have during the course.
 

If any reading materials are required prior to the course, you will receive them via email.

Certification and Assessment

Depending on the course you are taking, you may be working towards a certification, Our experienced instructors, will provide feedback and guidance throughout the course.

 

If there are assessments, we will brief you on what to expect at the start of the course.

Payment Information

If you have not already done so, please ensure that the full balance for your course is paid at least 28 days before the course start date.

We accept payments via bank transfer.

Complaints

Any issues or complaints that may arise should be queried as soon as possible to your instructor, if this is not possible/sufficient please contact the chief instructor Nicholas Pretty or the principal Amy Pretty.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations more than 28 days before the start date will receive a 50% refund.

  • Cancellations within 28 days are non-refundable.

  • Should Pretty Sailing need to cancel the course, we will offer a full refund or reschedule at your convenience.

  • Pretty sailing is not responsible for any travel or hotel expenses incurred with cancellations
